Wild West Regional is Almost Here!

Things are coming together for the first regional of the tournament year with the Wild West Regional on March 9-12 in Queen Creek, AZ.

Things are coming together for the first regional of the tournament year with the Wild West Regional March 9-12 in Queen Creek, AZ. This year, several local Arizona groups are combining efforts to organize one of the most well attended Regionals annually. The event is also being held at a state-of-the-art equestrian facility on a dirt surface.

Hosted by Top Notch Canines, members from Contact Zonies, Leaps N Bounds, Club Doggie and many individual agility competitors in the Phoenix area are all pitching in to help put on a great event. Some of the logistical help includes scorekeeping, course building, competitor and judge's hospitality, competitor check-in (which includes an awesome gift bag), awards, chief ring stewards, an awesome podium and an entire crew of ring help over the three-and-a-half days of competition.

The location, Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Center, is a 38-acre facility with 4 arenas that are laser leveled, clean, roomy horse stalls for crating, on-site RV camping and concession stand, and an excellent surface for competition.

The footing is from RD Kiser Design Footings and features a mix of silt and clay that's suitable for a variety of competitions. It's one of the most complex and versatile footings are the market today. Competition will take place in Arena 2 and crating is a short walk away in the barn stalls, which are 10 x 10 with rubber flooring and electrical outlets.

Of course, part of the fun of competing at a Regional are the judges. Elizabeth Diehl, Scott Lovelis and Paul Stolzenburg are sure to challenge your skills while making sure you're having fun at the same time.

If you've been on the fence about entering, time is running out. The closing date is Monday, Feb. 27 and you can email or scan your entries to the trial secretary, Karen Gloor, at rysaroni@cox.net. If not having a teammate is delaying your entry, we're happy to play matchmaker and set you up with a team of like-minded competitors.

This is one Regional that needs to be on your list to attend. You won't regret it.
