The February OVERview message from USDAA's President Ken Tatsch.
The first two Regionals of the tournament season are right around the corner. Kicking it off will be the Wild West Regional in Queen Creek, Arizona, March 9-12. The following week, March 17-19, will see the South Central Regional in Kerrville, Texas. Good luck to everyone entering these two events. Now is a great time to plan on attending the remaining 2017 Regional Championships.
And while you are planning your competition schedule remember this year's three Title Mania® events. Title Mania offers a unique opportunity to demonstrate consistency along with competitiveness at each level, from Starters to Masters Challenge, running from April through June. See the full list of regionals and Title Mania events on usdaa.com/events.cfm.
Some other special events on the calendar in the first half of 2017 include club anniversary events. Canine Combustion will celebrate 25 years of hosting USDAA events at its May regional, where planning is underway, and The Bay Team will celebrate 25 years at its June 17-18 event, offering special awards such as a Starters High in Trial Cup and Top Newcomers Trophy. They are going all out in preparations and are offering a 25-year price rollback on entry fees to $8 for titling classes and $15 for tournaments. Learn more about the Bay Team event at http://www.bayteam.org/wiki/USDAA_trial_Jun_17-18_2017.
The 2017 IFCS World Agility Championships are fast approaching. This year's WAC will be held in Valencia, Spain, April 26-30. The team has been busy preparing. If you want to support this year's team, please go to www.donate2dogsports.org and make a tax-deductible donation. Selection criteria for the 2018 Team USA selection for the Championships in Italy have been posted on http://usdaa.com/rulesReg_eBook.cfm.
USDAA is conducting two judging clinics - one in Georgia, May 18-21, and one in California, June 22-25. Whether you want to be a judge, or simply want to "up your game," go to the event calendar, search for seminars, and sign up for one of these two clinics in 2017. Talks are also underway to hold a clinic in Spanish in El Salvador this year.
Finally, where did the last 30 years go? Come and join us for the fun and competition as we celebrate the 30th running of the Grand Prix of Dog Agility® at the 2017 Cynosport World Games. This year's event will be held in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, October 25-29. Come and be part of this fun event, and bring your friends!
