Have you ever thought about participating with your dog in a research study?
The Dog Science Group is a website for "dog citizen scientists" - people who enjoy participating in studies regarding dogs, either by taking surveys or actually bringing their dogs to engage in scientific studies.
The site lists current research projects
where everyday citizens are needed. You can also follow them on Twitter @mymoderndog
for regular research project updates. Some of the projects they current list include:
- The Itchy Dog Project - seeks to look at genetic and environmental causes of canine atopic dermatitis (cAD). The researchers are looking for Labrador and Golden Retrievers over the age of three who either have cAD or have non-itchy skin.
- Omega 3 and Dog Arthritis Study - This study is looking at the effects of using dietary supplements on dogs with osteoarthritis.
- The Dog Aging Project - There are two current studies on aging in dogs looking at ways to prevent disease and improve the quality of life for middle-aged and senior dogs.
