The Central Regional was held on August 18-20 in Gardner, KS.
Casa De Canine of Greater Kansas City hosted the USDAA Central Regional on August 18-20, 2017. The event was held at the New Century Fieldhouse in Gardner, KS, which is a multi-use facility with an indoor turf field.
Ann Koenig served as Trial Chair and Karen Nenow of Flyin' Blues Trial Secretary Services served as Trial Secretary. The event judges were Becky Dean and Scott Lovelis.
One title was earned during the event - The Diamond Tournament Master Title by Tony Bessette and Laird.
Trial Chair Ann Koenig reports, "This year our event had a "Cosmic" theme since the 'Great American Eclipse' would be taking place on the day after our event. I had asked the handlers to come up with cosmic names for their DAM/PVP teams and awarded prizes to the best names. The DAM team winners were, "Total Eclipse of the Bark" and the PVP pair winners were, "Eclipsed by Uranus." Each person won a "Solar Flair" award and a voucher to be redeemed at any of our vendors.
Each year we make a point to reward "good behavior" of our handlers throughout the entry process. We have a "First to Enter" prize, a "Early Entry Raffle" and a "Confirmation Word Raffle" that help us ease the burden of our trail secretary, especially at the closing date. This year's winners were: Nancy Lauermann - First To Enter; Kathy Topham - Early Entry Raffle and Peggy Friauf - Confirmation Raffle.
We also have a "Mad Miler" award. Every year I am amazed at the distance folks will travel to attend our trial. This year's winner was Sheyla Gutierrez from Plantation, FL. She traveled over 1466 miles.
A special thank you to Symantha Melemed for her contribution to the USDAA World Team Fundraising event. Symantha won a voucher for a complete entry for one dog and some other goodies. Her donation significantly exceeded the value of the entry."
