USDAA Letter
By Ken Tatsch

The agiity world lost one of the early agility enthusiasts who helped promote and grow the sport of dog agility. J.C. Thompson passed away on his 93rd birthday. J.C. and his wife Hazel ventured far and wide from their home in North Carolina to enter almost every agility event they could. J.C. will be remembered for his generous spirit and competition wins. Read his full memorial on the USDAA website to learn more about J.C. Thompson.

With the 2016-2017 winding down, there is still time, and a few Regional Championships remaining (Mexico, Central and Western), to either earn your Qs for Cynosport or try for a semi-final bye in either Grand Prix/Performance Grand Prix or Steeplechase/Performance Speed Jumping.

Whether you are competing at the events or just keeping score at home, our Instagram and Facebook pages are a great way to see what’s happing at the Regionals. Please post your own photos and videos to Instagram and tag them with #usdaa and #usdaaregional. This will make those following along feel as if they are right there with you at the events.

The test schedule for the 2017 Cynosport World Games has been posted. We will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Grand Prix of Dog Agility® October 25-29, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Please send your entries early as provisional entries will be accepted as outlined in the test schedule.

In addition to entry to the games you will also find forms to reserve an RV space, reserve a kennel space and pay for your entry fees with a credit card. RV reservations are to be sent to the USDAA office via fax - 214-231-9700, mailed to the post office box as instructed on the reservation form or scanned and emailed to info@usdaa.com. All other forms are to be sent to Helen McNenly, the event secretary.

The 2018 World Team Selection Event is being held in conjunction with the Front Range Agility Team USDAA event on September 15-17, 2017. The six IFCS classes will be run on Saturday and Sunday. The judges for this event will be Evelyn Robertson (Seattle, WA) and Tom Henning (Delavan, WI). The IFCS Standard and Jumpers courses will be designed by IFCS judges Anton Kudrin (Russia) and Bart de Decker (Belgium). Both Anton and Bart have judged at the IFCS World Agility Championships, with Anton being the head judge the 2017 event last April. In addition, Anton judged at the 2016 Cynosport World Games® and Bart will be judging Cynosport in Murfreesboro this October.

This event closes on September 1st. The test schedule is available on the USDAA website. Competitors who want to try out for the 2018 World Team must file an Intent To Compete (ITC) form with World Team Coach Tracy Sklenar. Download the 2018 IFCS World Team Selection Rules and the ITC form can be found at the end of the document. If you intend to compete for the 2018 World Team please fill out the ITC form and email it to ifcsteamcoach@usdaa.com by the August 15th deadline. The form needs to be submitted by the deadline even if you are trying to get your qualifications at either the Central or Western Regionals.

Thank you for your support of USDAA agility.
