USDAA Letter

By Kenneth Tatsch, President

The month of May kicked off the Regional Championships for this year's tournament season, with three regionals held earlier this month showing a high competitor turnout as they set their sights on Scottsdale, Arizona in November. The Northwest and North Central regionals are scheduled over Memorial Day weekend, and an additional eight regionals are being held throughout the summer, including one each in Mexico, Costa Rica and Canada. In case you missed the announcement, information on hotels and RVs for Cynosports 2016 were released earlier this month. Please visit www.cynosport.com for details.

Last month, the IFCS World Agility Championship proved to be one of the most competitive events around the globe this year. IFCS continues to grow and capture the attention of top competitors as the Russian team continued to increase the dominance shown in 2016 by capturing a majority of the medals.

Our team represented the U.S. proudly, with Andy Mueller (3), Chip Gerfen (1) and Marcy Mantel (1), collectively capturing five medals for Team USA in a hotly contested event that required flawless rounds to win. Other team members were frequently within striking distance of the podium, but the Russian team had found the formula to produce the winning edge. Be sure to visit the USDAA web site news page for an article recapping this year's event.

The 2017 IFCS World Agility Championship is set for April 26-30 at the CES, an equestrian complex in Valencia, Spain. Anyone wishing to try out for the 2017 team should download the qualification regulations and Intent to Compete form from the USDAA's web site.

USDAA's inaugural Title Mania® event and first World Cynosport Rally Championships are also shaping up to be exciting events. Competitors from nearly 30 different states have entered to vie for top honors. The event is recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee as an Olympic Day celebration, promoting the Olympic values of fair play, perserverance, respect and sportsmanship.
