USDAA Letter
By Kenneth Tatsch, President

Our thanks to everyone who attended the Cynosport World Games earlier this month at WestWorld of Scottsdale. We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did. It truly takes a village for an event the magnitude of Cynosport. A special thank you to the 80-plus volunteers who came out just to work, and to all the competitors who stepped in to help whenever possible. Without these efforts, the event would not have been a success.

We also want to thank our sponsors for being part of Cynosport. Our newest sponsor, Multi Radiance Medical not only supported the event, but also offered free laser treatments to both humans and dogs throughout the event. Look for their coupon that was part of your competitor bag at check-in for a significant discount.

Of course Max200 provided the best equipment for the event and their incredible crew was there from before dawn until after dark every day. Zuke’s all natural, healthy dog treats provided samples of their new dog food in competitor bags and also samples of all their treats throughout the event. And finally, Glyco Flex, the natural joint supplement also provided great swag for competitors and spectators alike. We hope their support of Cynosport carries over into providing only the best for your dogs throughout the year.

As 2016 winds down and we look towards 2017, we still have much to accomplish. Of great importance to some are the newly revised measurement procedures for getting dogs certified at the 19" and 17" cut-off marks when a dog has already been permanently carded. Rules amendments setting forth specifications for the long jump and spreads under the new height structure will be published by month-end, along with amendments to regulations on Super Qs and application of jump heights to the Dog Agility Masters Team and Performance Versatility Pairs tournaments.

Everyone will want to note important dates for 2017, including regional championships, Cynosport, and three Title Mania events. Also, please note that the 2018 team selection rules for the IFCS competition in Italy should be announced by the end of this year.

In the meantime, we all have much to be thankful for, and the entire USDAA staff wishes you and your family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

How Instant Replay Works at Cynosport

We've had much interest in the process involved with instant video replay and scoring. Since the sport has evolved so much in the last few years, not only in course designs, but also the speeds of the dogs, we are using technology to help the judge on the field make the best possible calls to determine the winner.
